Pack Calendar

Current Calendar

We maintain our current up to date calendar on Scoutbook. This site requires a login and is available to current pack families.

Typical Year

Den Meetings

Each scout den (Bears, Wolves, Webelos, etc) has their own monthly or bi-monthly adventures, in which they complete age appropriate fun tasks or goals outlined in the BSA curriculum from their Scout Books. They earn advancements, patches, and belt segments that are awarded at pack meetings.

Pack Meetings

The pack meets as a whole normally once a month on a Wednesday at 6:30. While each year holds some variation, below is a list of our typical calendar of events for the pack:

September

The pack calendar kicks off with the beginning of the school year. Our September pack meeting usually involves crafts and games, or even hosting The Reptile Man.

October

We usually schedule our family camping trip to Fire Mountain to coincide with the Mount Baker Stampede, a day of participating in activities like camping set up, cooking, and shooting sports.

Also in October is the "Trunk or Treat" event, in which all the families converge on the Seaview parking lot with decorated trunks and carnival games. The scouts go from car to car playing games and accumulating treats.

November

November features the Rain Gutter Regatta, a miniature boat race. Some years we have used ready-to-assemble boats (similar to pinewood derby cars), but more recently we've moved to making creative boats out of recycled materials.

December

At the December pack meeting we have Skit Night, in which each Den composes and performs a skit for the pack. We also have a special visitor who brings presents for each scout!

January

One of the highlights of cub scouting is the annual Pinewood Derby, and this takes place at the January pack meeting (normally a Saturday morning half-day activity). The scouts assemble and decorate their cars at home, then come together to race them and cheer each other on.

February

February's pack meeting features the annual Blue and Gold dinner, a family pot luck that celebrates scouting.

March

In March our Webelos 2 scouts will graduate into Boy Scouts, and our pack meeting is usually a ceremony celebrating this graduation.

April

April is earth day, and we typically organize an activity such as a beach cleanup or planting at Fairbank Farm. We also have a regular pack meeting with an earth day focused activity planned by one of the Dens.

May

Another highlight of the year for the scouts is the construction of their Bottle Rockets. We bring these to Edmonds City park and launch them very high into the air.

June

In June the pack meeting is a graduation ceremony for the remainder of the scouts, as they move up to the next rank. This often features a campfire and s'mores, and a demonstration of skills learned that year from each Den.

Summer

Summer is a slower time for the pack, as families are usually travelling. We've done occasional activities, such as a hike, camping trip, or fishing excursion.

Other activities we've done throughout the year include:

  • Astronomy/Star Gazing party

  • Volunteering a the Fairbank Farm for earth day planting

  • Archery at Next Step Archery

  • Hosting Reptile Man

  • Bowling night
